Frequently Asked Questions
Polycom Girls, formerly known as the Polycom Development Project, is a Pan-African feminist, women-led organization based in Kenya. Since 2004, we have been dedicated to addressing sexual violence, exploitation, and a wide range of social injustices affecting young girls, women, and trans women.
“G-PENDE” means "to love yourself." This concept is at the heart of our approach, emphasizing self-worth, appreciation, and empowerment for trans women, women, and girls. It reflects our commitment to fostering environments where every individual is valued and respected.
Over the last two decades, we have built strong relationships with schools, local education authorities, community organizations, women’s rights groups, civil society, government bodies, and the private sector. These collaborations help us develop and implement strategies, partnerships, and programs that promote gender equality and inclusivity across Kenya and Africa.
We integrate issues such as social injustices, child protection, gender-based violence (GBV), and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) into our work. Our community-based approach ensures that interventions are relevant and responsive to the real challenges faced by women and girls in diverse local contexts.
